Maintenance: 0.5 to 0.7
Light Exercise/Breeding Stallion: 0.7 to 0.9
Medium Exercise: 0.9 to 1.1
Heavy Exercise: 1.2 to 1.5
When changing from hay feeding to a combined hay plus feed ration, make the change gradually over a 1-weekperiod. Split total daily amounts into 2 to 3 feedings per day. Hay should be fed at the rate of 1.5 to 2.0 LB per 100LB bodyweight. Provide plenty of fresh, clean water. Horses that have been exercised should be cooled out and rehydrated properly before being fed and before having access to unlimited water. Free-choice salt should be always available. Feeding rates should be adjusted to maintain desired body condition score.
Store feed in a clean, cool and dry location. Storage area should be free of insects and rodents. Do not allowanimals access to feedstuffs that show signs of insect or rodent infestation. Do not allow animals access to hot ormoldy feedstuffs at any time.
